Cupcakes in Singapore!

Hi Everyone,

The crazy cupcake lady is back....but this time in Singapore! I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone who convinced me in starting up again. I think with the BIG MOVE and pregnancy I had forgotten how much I enjoyed baking :)

I have to admit I was a bit hesitant to start baking here due to the heat and humidity, but slowly realized that the humidity is working to my advantage - the cupcakes are more moist then when I made them in Toronto! So stay tuned for some new flavours and designs!

I will also be resuming my "downtown" service. Every Friday I'll be delivering cupcakes to 1 Raffles Quay at noon - you can meet me in the lobby for pickup. Each week will be a different flavour. These cupcakes will be sold in boxes of six. Price will vary according to flavour. I'll be taking orders for Friday March 2 - Flavour will be Red Velvet. Cost $20. Message me by Feb 29 if you would like a box!

Wedding Cupcakes

Cupcakes are everywhere lately! Using cupcakes instead of a traditional wedding cake is an emerging trend in weddings. Martha Stewart has featured cupcake wedding cakes on her website: http://www.marthastewartweddings.com/photogallery/wedding-cupcake-recipes


Also, wedding cupcakes are turning up in the latest bridal magazines. When stacked together on a tiered cupcake wedding stand, cupcakes make quite an impression!

Downtown service will resume in August

Hi guys!

You must be wondering why I have disappeared and haven't put up any posts to my blogs....well i've just been enjoying summer way too much :) Also, been busy with orders on the weekends so haven't been able to bake for my downtown fans.

I will be resuming downtown service first week of august. I will update at the end of the month what that weeks flavor will be. Till then enjoy!

Hi Everyone!

Its friday! :)

Just wanted to let everyone know that I won't be bringing cupcakes down next week due to the G20 summit.

I will post another update next week for the following weeks flavor.

Cookie Monster Cupcakes!

It was my daughter's 2nd birthday last week and we were celebrating with the Sesame Street theme. Since my daughter is sooo crazy about Elmo (which toddler isn't??), we had decided to order an Elmo cake from Sweetthings - www.sweetthings.ca. I found a picture of a cake i liked online and sent it to Juanita to see if she could replicate it and voila here's how the cake turned out:

Since i'm soo crazy about cupcakes, I had to make some for her birthday. Not only does my daughter love elmo, she also loves cookie monster! So it was decided, cookie monster cupcakes! Now making these cupcakes was "no stroll in the park" LOL. But they turned out great and everyone loved them!

Carrot cupcakes, with buttercream/coconut frosting and a chocolate chip cookie ofcourse! the eyes are edible mints.

What is Red Velvet?

I'm constantly asked this question, so I thought of dedicating a blog to describing how Red Velvet cupcakes are made. Red Velvet is a staple classic dessert among southerners. It is a rich, moist, sweet cake with a dark red, bright red or red-brown color. It is usually prepared as a layer cake somewhere between chocolate and vanilla in flavor, topped with a creamy white icing. Common ingredients are buttermilk, butter, flour, cocoa, and either beets or red food coloring. 6 Tablespoons of Red food coloring is used per batch! Here's what the batter looks like:

Chocolate Heaven Cupcakes

As some of you might have noticed i'm not making my regular cupcakes this week! Its my daughters birthday this friday and i won't be at work!

But i'm going to make up for that by offering Chocolate Heaven Cupcakes next week! These are chocolate cupcakes, with vanilla buttercream icing and chocolate mousse filling inside - I don't think it can get any better than that.

Gluten Free Cupcakes

Hi everyone!

Hope you are enjoying the fabulous weather :)

I've now started making gluten free cupcakes! Just because you have a gluten intolerance doesn't mean you can no longer enjoy a yummy cupcake :) these cupcakes will make sure you do not miss out on one of life's little pleasures.

The cupcakes come in 2 flavors: either chocolate or vanilla.

I can do mixed orders, combination of regular cupcakes and some gluten free.

TD Cupcakes

Hi everyone,

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend! So as you know, last week was a really busy week for me! Thanks to my hubby, I landed a cupcake order for a quarterly meeting at TD for 125 cupcakes! The order was for just plain cupcakes, but I went the extra mile and added little TD flags to half of the cupcakes. Everything was going great, my hubby was helping out with the cupcakes. We finished the last box and went to put it in the fridge at about 11pm. I was making room in the fridge and Nikhil (my hubby) was standing behind me with the box over my head....well i'm sure you can imagine what happened next! I got up and hit the box and it ended up on the floor upside down!! After crying for about 10 minutes I got myself together and finally opened the box - again I started crying after seeing the disaster! Anyway, I had made some extra cupcakes that day so ended up using those to finish the order...but it was a long night! Here's how they turned out...

Tiramisu Cupcakes

Hi Everyone,

Since next week is my birthday i've decided to make my second (first being red velvet) most favorite flavor of cupcakes - Tiramisu!

I made these cupcakes a few weeks ago for a friends birthday and they were a huge hit! What's special about these is that they are 'injected' with expresso coffee and the buttercream is a made from marscapone cheese.

Let me know by Wed May 19 if you would like a box. 2 for $5 or 6 for $12.

Also please note the spring promotion will end on May 28, after which cupcakes will go back to regular price. Ie. specialty cupcakes like red velvet, tiramisu, carrot cake etc will be 6 for $15 and plain cupcakes like chocolate and vanilla will remain at 6 for $12.

Box of 2 cupcakes are here!

Hi Everyone,

Next week is turning out to be a busy week! Along with the usual weekly cupcake orders for my downtown fans and the launch of the new cupcakes boxes (2 cupcakes/box) - I also have a corporate order for cupcakes for delivery on friday! Its going to be a fun week :)
